# What you can personalize

> The menu of things that can differ from one recipient to the next — and the parts of your story that never change.

Before configuring anything, it helps to know what is actually on offer. Personalization in
LatentCast is deliberately bounded: a fixed set of things can differ per person, and everything else
is identical for everyone.

## What never changes

**The core of your story.** The scenes you reviewed, the arguments you made, the claims drawn from
your material — all of it is the same in every recipient's video. That is the point of signing off:
you approved one story, and one story is what goes out.

## What can change

Personalization sits in three positions around that core, plus a layer of look and feel over the
whole thing.

| Position | What it does |
| --------------------------------------- | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **The opening** | Greets the person, and establishes why this message is arriving now |
| **A context scene**, optional, early on | Connects your core message to what their company actually cares about |
| **The closing** | A personal sign-off before the call to action |
| **The look** | Their logo and colours, imagery that fits their world, and the right colleague presenting |

<Note>
When you review a personalized video you are really reviewing two things: whether the personal parts
are accurate and natural, and whether your core story still works with them wrapped around it.
</Note>

## Packages

You do not configure two dozen switches from scratch. You choose a **package** and adjust from
there.

| Package | Roughly |
| ---------- | ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Basic** | The personal opening and closing. The lightest touch, and the cheapest to produce. |
| **Medium** | Adds the context scene and more of the look and feel. |

A third, richer package is being finished and is not selectable yet.

## The individual dimensions

Inside a package, each <Tooltip tip="One thing that may change per recipient, such as their name, their company, or the reason you are reaching out."><strong>dimension</strong></Tooltip> can be switched on or off:

* **Their name and company, spoken aloud** in the opening.
* **The reason you are reaching out** — a triggering event, and the relationship you already have.
* **What their company is focused on** — the priorities and signals that make your message relevant.
* **Their imagery** — a picture you supply for them, used exactly as given.
* **The presenter** — which colleague appears, taken from your recipient list.
* **Their brand** — logo and colours on their viewing page.

Two more, the presenter's clothing and full translation into the recipient's language, are visible
but not yet available.

## Custom images

A <Tooltip tip="A picture you supply for a recipient. It is used as given and never regenerated."><strong>custom image</strong></Tooltip> is a picture you provide for a specific recipient: a
photo of their building, a screenshot of their own dashboard, a product in their setting. You upload
it to the profile's image library and name it in that person's row.

Custom images are treated as ground truth. They are never regenerated or restyled, and they are
guaranteed time on screen. If you have something real, this is the strongest personalization
available to you.

## The rule underneath all of it

A dimension applies to a person only when your profile asks for it, your list has that column, and
that person's cell has something in it. Miss any one and the dimension is skipped for them, quietly
and without invention. See [Preparing your recipient list](/docs/guides/recipients/preparing-your-list).
